With ICS’s industry specific expertise, Impact Digital is making a mark

With a desire to compete in local government and corporate sectors, Impact Digital needed ISO Certification. A family business and award winning environmentally conscious digital printing service, Impact Digital understands the importance of staying ahead of the game. CEO, Heath Nankervis worked with ICS on their systems to get the best value out of certification and save valuable time. “Being environmentally sustainable is really important to us and our customers. We knew what we needed to do, but resourcing those needs was a constant challenge.”

Following the loss of the organisation’s health and quality systems manager, the role of internal auditing fell to the General Manager. Using this as a catalyst for change, Impact Digital turned to ICS for a transparent, multi-dimensional ISO certification approach that would match the progressive nature of their business. “We really thrived on the challenge working with ICS presented for us. It was no longer just ‘our thinking’, but the collective thinking and input of people experienced in not only the ISO compliance field, but our industry. Having ICS’s industry specific expertise gave us the confidence to really embrace certification.”

With a management system already in place, there was no need for ICS to reinvent the wheel. Impact Digital simply needed assistance with defining and refining their existing systems.

What was a day’s work every week is now a 1-2 hour maintenance task for Impact Digital’s Quality & OHS officer. “To be honest, we were spinning our wheels, but with ICS’s help, we’re now on the front foot and the relief of knowing that is well worth it.”

With ICS’s structured, plain-English approach, Impact Digital has been able to get on with the business of what they do well – printing. Adopting a clear, strategic approach, ICS merged an existing management system into Impact Digital’s new business model and redesigned it for ease of use. Establishing a simple internal audit schedule, ICS developed a 12-month activity program covering everything required of Impact Digital to stay compliant. “Before ICS, external auditors were the first to tell us that something was missing. Now, we know before they do.”

Providing invaluable external perspective, ICS created documentation of the requirements and specifications that would ensure that Impact Digital consistently and seamlessly manage their assets, customers and suppliers. An investment beyond certification and auditing, ICS created a platform on which Impact Digital could perform at their best. “Going down this path doesn’t immediately make money. But it’s creating money because the processes and procedures they’ve implemented help us to perform at optimum levels.”

Quality and control leads to business growth

With continuing ISO certification, Impact Digital has been able to solidify their position as a preferred supplier to local and state government sectors. With 25% of their customer base requiring certification, Impact Digital has capitalised on a market they had previously ignored.

And embracing quality control measures has ensured that customers can rely on every job being of the same great standard. The systems in place have allowed Impact Digital to identify problems, before they reach their clients – protecting their reputation for quality and driving staff engagement..

But Impact Digital isn’t done with ICS yet. “Whilst we could do the job internally now, we see the benefit of ICS’s external perspective and industry experience. We’ll continue to work with ICS to retain the transparency and accountability their involvement delivers.”
